#31daymarch Blog Challenge- Dream Job (Not to be confused with Boob Job)

7 March 2013, 16:35

Day 7 – What’s your dream job?

I’ve had more dream jobs than Snooki’s had bad hair days.

My short list over the many years has gone something like this. Each of which I was totally convinced that I was going to be when I grew up.

Marine Biologist
Tennis Star
Interior Designer
Bakery Owner
Forensic Toxicologist
Crime Scene Investigator
Fashion Designer
Children’s Boutique Owner

And, I’ve even accumulated some prize pieces over the years, to show for my dream job aspirations. Microscope kits. Casio keyboards. Shading pencils.

An adopt-a-manatee certificate.

Do you own a sea cow somewhere out there in the depths of the great Caribbean Sea? If that’s not drive, I don’t know what is.

I think my problem is that I’ve never been able to nail ONE THING down. I don’t ever want to do just one thing. While some people (bless their unconfused hearts) know from day one what they aspire to be, I tend to move in the opposite direction and attempt to be all things I’m decent at.

Am I an overachiever or do I need medication?

My current situation is pretty amazing. I get to be home with my kids while writing, blogging, designing (graphically), community-building and collaborating with other business women & men, from the comforts of my favorite knee-torn black Nike¬†sweatpants. Of course there are days when I want to bang my head on everything that is within a foot’s reach of it, so on those days, I just go out and buy shit.

Never underestimate the power of angry shopping.

Truth be told, while I love all that I do, there are still a few other things I haven’t completed yet and I won’t feel satisfied (I think) until I do. Those things are in the works, so don’t you worry for a single second. Because if there is anything DREAMY about what I do, it’s that I live in a world where you can do everything. Even if it means you look like a Fraggle 5 days a week.

What’s your dream job?¬†

  1. My dream job is to write. From home. :)

Before that dream job it was to be a sportscaster. For years and years and years. Then I did an internship at channel 12 during high school, and all the sports guys told me they started in news. Which was boring as shit. And I didn't want to pay my dues, so I dropped that dream. I still got my communications degree though, with a focus in marketing. How I ended up HERE I have no damn idea.

This post made my day! I'm glad I'm not the only one that's bounced around. It must have something to do with being artistic, no?

  3. Joanna {Baby Gators Den} March 7, 2013

Honestly, I think I am doing my dream job for now. When the kids are older I would love to ride and train horses again. That would be my dream job!! Loved reading your list, doesn't surprise me at all :) xo

  6. I'm like you in that I have a ton of things I'd love to do or be...I have a list of about 3 or 4 degrees I'd like to go back to school for, including a PhD in City Planning and Development to go along with my currently unused Masters in that field...but my ultimate dream job since I've been a kid will always be to work for "The Mouse" as a Walt Disney Imagineer! One day...one day.....!!!!
